Producing a color-coated powder, which is embedded in an organic or inorganic matrix, and exhibits an average particle sizes of less than 0.1 mm, comprises subjecting a carrier material to high shear force in an intensive mixer with the organic and/or inorganic binder and coating a pigment, where this high shear forces are capable of destroying pigment aggregates and to convert it into pigment particles and to obtain a homogeneous coating of the carrier material with pigment particles. An independent claim is also included for the color-coated powder produced by the above mentioned method.
