Separating at least one trace component of a feed fraction (1), preferably a hydrocarbon rich fraction comprising the main component methane, comprises: (a) adsorptive drying of the feed fraction; (b) adsorptive removing of the trace components from the dried feed fraction (2); (c) carrying out the adsorptive drying and/or the adsorptive removal of trace components in at least two parallel adsorbers alternately passing through adsorption- and regeneration phase; and (d) regenerating the adsorptive removal unit for trace components by a regeneration gas (5). Separating at least one trace component of a feed fraction (1), preferably a hydrocarbon-rich fraction comprising as the main component methane, where the amount of each trace component in the feed fraction is of 1000 ppmV, comprises: (a) adsorptive drying of the feed fraction; (b) adsorptive removing of the trace components from the dried feed fraction (2); (c) carrying out the adsorptive drying and/or the adsorptive removal of trace components in at least two parallel adsorbers alternately passing through adsorption- and regeneration phase; and (d) regenerating the adsorptive removal unit for trace components by a regeneration gas (5) which is to be removed at a concentration of up to 2 ppmV.
