The mechanism has an electrical driving motor (801) e.g. synchronous motor, for producing drive moment, and a servo transmission provided for transmitting the drive moment. The transmission has two spur gear stages (802, 803, 804) that are formed as standard transmissions e.g. hypoid gear assembly and spur gear, and coupled with one another. The driving motor is coupled to the servo transmission, and a switchable free-wheel device is arranged between the servo transmission and a coupling point (808), where the torque of the motor is guided into the coupling point. An independent claim is also included for a steering system comprising a steering transmission.
