The device has a planar structure (110), and a magnetic field generator for generating magnetic sensor field in the form of magnetic alternating field. The planar structure has a sensor layer structure (112) with a planar coil (114) and a magnetic core element (116). The coil and the core element are partially overlapped with one another, and the core element has a layer made from metallic material with permeability of 5. A projection of an end of the core element is arranged on a plane of the coil, and the generator has a field coil wound by a wire. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a sensor device.
