The device (1) has a heating element and a drive (15) along a removal path to a stand-by position, so that the heating element is moved along the removal path during standstill of a thermoforming system. The removal path is projected along its entire length on a transport direction (9), and has movement components projected on the transport direction and standing perpendicular to a material web. The drive holds the heating element parallel to the material web, and a parallel part is arranged at outlet of the removal path.
