The system has a cooling system connected with a power supply i.e. electric power source. A controller controls the cooling system based on characteristics of the power supply. The cooling system comprises a compressor i.e. piston compressor, and the controller works in normal energy condition such that the compressor is operated in the normal energy condition if internal temperature of the cooling system exceeds an upper temperature threshold (102) and operation of the compressor is stopped if the internal temperature falls below a lower temperature threshold (104). The characteristics of the power supply comprise electrical voltage level, current electric current, price of electrical power or information about mode of production of electrical power. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a cooling system.
