The method involves separating gas mixture (1) from solventless gas flow (9) and a solvent e.g. methanol, enriched liquid flow (11) by cooling and partial condensing. The solventless gas flow is separated by cryogenic distillation and/or cryogenic washing to form carbon monoxide enriched flow (17) and hydrogen enriched flow (19). The solventless gas flow is not allowed to contain carbon dioxide, where pressure of the solvent enriched liquid flow ranges between 20 and 70 bar Abs. An independent claim is also included for an installation unit for separating a gas mixture containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide, acid gas and methane.
