The device has a water capturing unit (2) for capturing water in an inlet duct portion (1) e.g. air filter tank, and a storage pit (4) for storing the water. A supply unit (3) supplies the water between the capturing unit and the pit. A drain valve (5) is provided at a low part of the pit. A closing system closes the supply unit in the pit during the emptying of water in the pit. A sealed expandable pocket (8) e.g. bellows, is fluidically connected to a valve (10) isolated or provided within the pocket in communication with the portion in the downstream the capturing unit or with atmosphere. An independent claim is also included for a method for emptying water in a storage pit.
