The transmitting device has a movable primary coil (27) to be placed under a secondary coil of a receiving device to perform energy transmission by induction. An electromagnetic unit moves and positions the primary coil in a predetermined position. The unit has a magnet (43) surrounding the primary coil, and two pairs of electromagnets (39a, 39b, 41a, 41b) respectively placed on both sides of two directional axes. The electromagnets generate a magnetic field of same polarity as that of the magnet. The primary coil has a surface that is in contact with an inner wall of a housing (25). An independent claim is also included for a method for aligning a primary coil of a transmitting device with a secondary coil of a receiving device to transmit energy by induction.
