The seat has a fixed rail (10) equipped with a fixing unit (12) for fixing to a frame of a car. A movable rail (20) is slidingly mounted on the fixed rail between a rear extreme position and a front extreme position. An elastic restoring connection includes an end, which is fixed on the movable rail or on one of seat elements such as seat base and backrest, and another end that is fixed at an anchoring unit (60) mounted on the fixed rail. The anchoring unit is movable relative to the fixed rail so as to vary a position of the latter end of the connection relative to the fixed rail.
