A device that allows encasement of a snared polyp such that the encasement e is detachable from a wire d traversing the length of the colonscope f, connecting said encasement e to a trigger device g used by the endoscopist to close the encasement e around the already snared and free polyp and detach the encasement e. The encased polyp may then be retrieved from evacuated stool. Retrieval may be facilitated by bright colour of the encasement e or the encasement e being metallic and a metal detector passed over evacuated stool. Linking individual polyps to their particular origin in the colon is achieved by using varying colours of encasement e and recording on the endoscopy report which coloured encasement e was used for each polyp.
