PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the separation of a normal component.SOLUTION: A storage device carrying out input-output operation for a disc via an expander has a threshold determination unit 502, a deviation determination unit 503, a connection determination unit 504 and a separation unit 505. The threshold determination unit 502 determines whether or not a cumulative value, accumulated according to the error occurrence of a disc in the input-output operation, has reached a predetermined threshold value. The deviation determination unit 503, when the cumulative value is determined to be equal to or greater than the threshold value, determines whether or not the number of the input-output operations for the disc is deviated from the number of input-output operations for another disc mounted on the expander. The connection determination unit 504, when it is determined that there is a deviation, determines whether or not the connection state of the expander is normal. The separation unit 505, when the connection state of the expander is determined to be normal, separates the connection with the disc.
