PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recovery system and a recovery method with sufficiently small effect on a sea bottom and sea environment and useful for continuously recovering mineral resources from a hydrothermal reservoir below a sea bottom.SOLUTION: A recovery method for recovering mineral resources from a hydrothermal area below a sea bottom includes the steps of: (A) drilling a hole reaching a hydrothermal area from a sea bottom via a guide base above the sea bottom, and thereafter installing a casing in the drilled hole via the guide base to provide a hydrothermal well; (B) installing a mineral cultivator on the guide base so as to cover a portal of the hydrothermal well and depositing mineral on the mineral cultivator by bringing hot water jetted from the portal into contact with sea water on the mineral cultivator; and (C) recovering the mineral deposited on the mineral cultivator along with the mineral cultivator.
