PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus of denitrifying digested sludge separation liquid, by which a high nitrification activity can be kept without the deceleration of a nitrification speed and a stable denitrification can be performed. PSOLUTION: In the method of adding a polymer 6 to nitrogen-containing digested sludge 5 to separate solid and liquid and denitrifying obtained separation liquid 10 biologically using biofouling carriers 15, 23, the separation liquid 10 obtained by adding the polymer 6 and separating the solid and the liquid and the digested sludge 5 or returned sludge 20 obtained by the nitrification are mixed, remaining polymer in the separation liquid 10 is removed, and the separation liquid 13 from which the remaining polymer is removed is denitrified biologically using the biofouling carriers 15, 23.
