PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for holding an end of optical fiber, a device that deals with optical fibers with outer diameters in a wide range and facilitates operation.;SOLUTION: The holding device 1 includes a base 3 having a grooved housing space 2 in which an end of optical fiber 22 is housed and a pressing member 4 for holding the optical fiber 22 in the housing space 2. The base 3 is provided with a first block 5 having a first inclined face 7 and a first counter face 9 and with a second block 6 having a second inclined face 8 and a second counter face 10. The pressing member 4 has a first pressing face 11 and a second pressing face 12. In the first and the second block 5, 6, an oppositely facing position can be arbitrarily set along the first and the second counter face 9, 10. In the pressing member 4, an oppositely facing position relative to the base 3 can be arbitrarily set along the first or the second inclined face 7, 8.
