The system has a processing unit (1) fragmenting hierarchically structured identification marking of measurement points into hierarchical levels of different quality ratings. The unit selects the markings of the hierarchical level with high quality rating and transmits the selected markings to a pre-configured measurement alarm display unit (2). The selected markings are assigned to corresponding identified ranges within an overview screen of the display unit. The alarm signals generated from the values are graphically displayed under consideration of the assignment of the selected marking. An independent claim is also included for a method of graphic display of alarm signal from measurement values of a technical system or a technical process.
