Use of a composition in the preparation of a dialysis solution for the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases by peritoneal dialysis.

The present invention relates to the use of a composition isotonic, buffered lactate / phosphate in a physiologically acceptable pH range (6-7.5), with low concentrations of glutamate and a physiological, or less, glucose concentration, in the preparation of a peritoneal dialysis solution for the treatment of stroke and acute other cerebrovascular diseases. The application of this dialysis solution in the peritoneal cavity decreases very significantly the volume of cerebral infarct associated with occlusion of the middle cerebral artery and, therefore, the associated neurological damage. Application in biomedicine in cerebrovascular diseases, including cerebral ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke.
