Timing system of a sports competition that has two timekeeping devices

The timing system (1) has a main timing device (2) with a first time base (4) and a secondary timing device (3) having a second time base (5). The timing devices operate in parallel when the timing system is enabled and both are arranged such that the two time bases are synchronized with each other in normal operating mode. The second time base is synchronized via a reference timer signal (CLKref) supplied by first time base. The main timing device supplies the first timer or clock signal (CLK T1) and the secondary timing device supplies a second timer or clock signal (CLK T2).
