A location detection device (248) comprises a magnetism emission unit (154) and a detection unit (150). The magnetism emission unit (154) is bipolarly magnetized on a face thereof. The detection unit (150) further comprises a first magnetism detection element (152), a second magnetism detection element (153), and a retention member (151). The retention member (151) is capable of relative parallel movement with respect to a face of the magnetism emission unit (154). With the detection unit (150), the first magnetism element (152) and the second magnetism element (153) are molded integrally with the retention member (151). An angle formed by a first axis which transects the first magnetism detection element (152) and the second magnetism detection element (153) and an axis in which a polarization line of the magnetism emission unit (154) extends is not 90 degrees. A line segment which joins the first magnetism detection element (152) and the second magnetism detection element (153) and the polarization line of the magnetism emission unit (154) are either crossed or parallel.
