At least one of the following, extracted from components contained in the urine of a female mouse in which estrus was induced by the administration of estrogen after an ovariectomy, is used: 2-ethylhexanol, undecane, and 2,3-butanediol diacetate. Applying these components to a female mouse increases pursuit behavior by male mice. Since no increases in pursuit behavior are seen in male mice from which the vomeronasal organ has been removed, the abovementioned components are pheromone-like substances that induce mating by way of the vomeronasal organ. These components are useful as mating inducers.
