A maximum distance prediction device comprises a control device (10) which executes: an average traffic information acquisition function which acquires average traffic information in a prescribed interval which configures a path that includes the present location of a vehicle; a surveyed traffic information acquisition function which acquires surveyed traffic information which is detected in a prescribed interval which configures a path that includes the present location of the vehicle; a travel condition determination function which, on the basis of the average traffic information and the surveyed traffic information, determines, if a travel condition is satisfied, that a difference has arisen in energy consumption of the vehicle during travel; an energy consumption computation function which, when it is determined that the travel condition is satisfied, predicts the energy consumption of a vehicle on the basis of the surveyed traffic information, and when it is determined that the travel condition is not satisfied, computes the energy consumption of the vehicle on the basis of the average traffic information; and a maximum distance prediction function which, on the basis of the amount of energy consumption and the amount of energy remaining in the vehicle, predicts the maximum distance.
