Present invention relates to a movable aeroponic growth unit for growing plants, an improved system for growing plants aeroponically, a greenhouse for growing plants aeroponically as well as an improved method for growing plants aeroponically. The movable aeroponic growth unit 1 comprises a vessel 2 forming a root chamber 3 for enclosing the root portion 4 of a plant 5, a cover 6 for sealing the top opening of the vessel 2 comprising at least one aperture 7, at least one spraying means 8 inside the vessel for humidifying the interior of the vessel 2 and piping for nutrient solution feed to the spray means 8 and for drainage of excess nutrient solution from the root chamber 3. The vessel 2 of the aeroponic growth unit 1 is mounted on at least three wheels 10 that permit free running of the vessel 2 along one movement axis only as indicated by the arrows in figure 1. The present invention furthermore relates to a system of more than one aeroponic growth unit as shown schematically in figures 3a and 3b, where the units are spaced directly adjacent to each other so that the covers 6 of the adjacent root chambers 3 leave virtually no space 11 between them. Present invention also relates to an improved method of growing plants aeroponically comprising the steps of planting plants in the improved system for growing plants aeroponically, controlling the temperature of the nutrient solution and providing the roots in the root chamber with the nutrient solution, and periodically lowering the plants deeper into the growth chamber to increase root development.
