PURPOSE: A zero-phase component detection method and a device thereof are provided to reduce calculation loads and to improve the credibility of result values. CONSTITUTION: A device(100) detecting zero-phase components of a watt-hour meter includes a sequential sampling type meter chip(110), a data acquisition part(120), and a zero-phase current value calculation part(130). The meter chip adopts a sequential sampling method. The data acquisition part acquires sequential data for multiple phases from the meter chip. The zero-phase current value calculation part calculates a momentary current value for fault detection by adding up momentary current values of each phase obtained from the acquired sequential data, and calculates a zero-phase current value by using the calculated momentary current value for fault detection. The zero-phase current value calculation part extracts the same number of momentary current values for fault detection as the number corresponding to multiple phases.
