The scalable video bit-stream H.264 / AVC compatible base layer (BL) and a scalable enhancement may have a layer (EL), where scalability refers to color bit depth. According to the invention, BL information is upsampled in two logical steps in the texture upsampling and bit depth upsampling (TUp, BDUp).
