FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to grinding mineral substances in an aqueous medium in the presence of binding materials. The method of obtaining self-binding pigment particles involves the following steps: a) preparing one or more aqueous suspensions of at least one pigment, feeding said suspension(s) into a grinder to carry out step c); b) preparing or using one or more aqueous solutions or suspensions or emulsions of at least one binding material and feeding into a grinder to carry out step c), and/or preparing and using one or more dry binding materials and feeding into a grinder to carry out step c); c) mixed grinding of the aqueous suspension(s) obtained at step a) with one or more aqueous solutions or suspensions or emulsions and/or with one or more dry binding materials obtained at step b) to obtain an aqueous suspension of self-binding pigment particles. Optional steps can then be carried out in an aqueous suspension, specifically mixed grinding, increasing concentration, dispersion and drying.
