The fluorescence detection system (100) has an image sensor (180), which is operated to detect a fluorescence radiation. The image sensor has multiple photo-detectors (185), where each photo-detector is operated to provide a fluorescence radiation detected in a corresponding number of output loads. The photo-detector has a load integrator, which is operated during a predetermined time interval. The output photocurrent charges are generated in response to the detected fluorescence radiation. An independent claim is included for a method for operating fluorescence detection system.
