The method involves forming a dielectric passivation layer (5) on one of the sides of a planar semiconductor substrate (1). The contact layers (6,7) are arranged subsequently on the passivation layer. An electrically conductive contact is produced between the contact layer (7) made of easily solderable metal, and the semiconductor substrate. A diffusion barrier layer made of titanium or titanium compound, is formed above the contact layer (6). An independent claim is included for semiconductor component.
