The device has a receiving unit (12) for receiving suspension units (14a, 14b) for holding individual pieces of cutlery (10). Gripping sections (10a, 10b) of the individual pieces of cutlery are partially covered in lower planes (B, C) with the receiving unit. The suspension units include support regions e.g. tray regions (70), extending toward an X-axis. The support regions comprise a slope toward to the X-axis and/or a Y-axis. The suspension units are provided with separation units (16a, 16b). A vertical column unit holds the receiving unit.
