The method involves fastening blades and wear plates at a blade ring (2). The wear plates are fastened at blade carriers in tangential orientation. The clamping is released initially and the blades are pushed back into the standby position behind the inner surface of the wear plates. The wear plates are cut finally. The blades are then driven into a cutting position around a preset dimension over the inner surface of the wear plates. The blades are finally cut till the desired blade arrangement is attained. An independent claim is included for a device for sharpening of blades or wear plates of a blade ring flaker.
