The bumper (1) has crossbeam (2) with hollow and closed cross-sectional profile which is connected to longitudinal supports or detachably attached to shock absorbing deformation elements (3). A closed hollow profile rod-shaped reinforcement (5) is provided in the upper half of the crossbeam and extended up to the shock absorbing deformation elements along the crossbeam. The crossbeam and rod-shaped reinforcement are made of high-strength steel.
