The method involves exciting a passive sensor (12) with an excitation signal (10). A sensor signal (20) is transmitted and the transmitted sensor signal is demodulated. The power of the excitation signal used for exciting the sensor is distributed over frequency interval. A carrier signal (30) is generated and the generated carrier signal is modulated with spectrum signal (40) to produce the excitation signal. The bandwidth of spectrum signal corresponds to width of the frequency interval. An independent claim is included for a device for evaluating passive sensor.
