The method involves connecting a capacitive level measuring device (20) with a medium container (10), where the measuring device is provided with a measuring electrode (21) designed as a measuring stick. Medium (1) i.e. liquid neon, having permittivity is covered with another medium (2) i.e. helium, having another permittivity in the container, where the electrode is enclosed by a reference electrode (22). Level (1') of the former medium is determined by the measuring device, where the permittivity of the former medium deviates around 20 percent of that of the latter medium. An independent claim is also included for a system such as a neon liquefaction system.
