The device has steering wheel comprising a wheel rim (3) and intermediately arranged airbag module (4) with air bag. A cover (6) covers front side of airbag module. An outlet is arranged in a region of airbag in airbag deployment direction, and a parasitic element (7) is arranged adjacent to the region of airbag. The cover is adapted to open the ramp portion which inflates the airbag without hindrance at the parasitic elements.
