The method (1) involves contacting a service provider (2) by a user (3), and producing a unique pseudonym by the provider. Initialization information is displayed, and a message including the pseudonym and the information is sent by the provider to a trusted party (4). The user is authenticated in relation to the trusted party by using an electronic identity card issued by a national organization, and the initialization information is sent to the trusted party. The pseudonym is assigned to the user by the trusted party, and services of the provider are used by the user over the trusted party. An independent claim is also included for a system for anonymous claiming of a service provider in a communication network by a user.
