Assembly system (10) for erecting pitched roof arranged photovoltaic (PV) modules (12) on a building roof (14), in particular a flat roof, in an east-west orientation, wherein the system (10) comprises: at least two in a base rail (16) extending in a longitudinal direction (X), each of the base rails (16) having a distance (A1) in a transverse direction (Y) to a next one of the base rails (16); at least two support rails (18) extending along the transverse direction (Y), to which the PV modules (12) can be fastened, each of the support rails (18) being at a distance (A2) in the longitudinal direction (X) to a next one of the support rails (18); a plurality of pedestals (24), each of the pedestals (24) being connectable to one or two of the support rails (18) in the transverse direction (Y) and each of the pedestals (24) being tool-free by insertion into one of the base rails (16) with this base rail (16) is connectable to connect this base rail (16) with the or the support rails (18); and a plurality of brackets (26), each of the brackets (26) being tool-lessly pluggable onto one of the base rails (16) along the height direction (Z) to connect one of the pedestals (24) in one of the base rails (16 ) is permanently fixed in this base rails (16).
