The method involves fixing an endoscope (12) within a thermal fluid-flow machine, and displacing the fluid-flow machine during rotation. An electronic camera (16) is triggered for receiving images of rotary machine parts i.e. shovels (28, 30, 32), when a signal of an optical sensor (14) reaches or exceeds a trigger threshold level such as minimum trigger level. The images are stored for generating an image sequence that is synchronized with a rotational motion of the rotary machine parts. A spatial position of the endoscope is adjusted based on a still image captured with the camera. The electronic camera is designed as a red-green-blue (RGB) camera or a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for receiving a sequence of images of rotary machine parts of a thermal fluid-flow machine (2) an article for re-tooling a head of an endoscope for receiving a sequence of images of rotary machine parts of a thermal fluid-flow machine.
