A hollow component (3) has forging tools (2) that are arranged symmetrically about a forging axis, and are driven by radial strokes. A rotatably mounted mandrel rod (5) is arranged corresponding to a forging mandrel (4), and is engaged with a rotary drive element (10). The rotary drive element is controlled via a control unit (11) in dependence on the rotational position of the forging mandrel with respect to the forging tools.
