The method involves determining a temperature value between the exhaust gas inlet temperature of DOC and exhaust gas outlet temperature of DOC, at relatively high exhaust gas temperature. The temperature value between the exhaust gas inlet temperature of DOC and exhaust gas outlet temperature of DOC is determined, at low high exhaust gas temperature. The NO conversion, hydrocarbon conversion and carbon monoxide conversion capabilities of DOC are evaluated.
