The method involves selecting a frame sequence having a frame from a data sensing device, and checking the frame sequence by analysis of a field (SN) that indicates a frame number. Another field (TS) of the frame is analyzed, where the latter field indicates the time of transmission of the frame by a transmitting device. A decision (D1) on the nature of a data stream flowing in a network line is made when the data stream is video stream, and another decision (D2) is made when the data stream is audio stream, where the frames are frames of a real-time transport (RTP) protocol. An independent claim is also included for a device for classifying data stream flowing in a network line.
