The method involves depositing a coating on an interior surface of a barrel (2) of a crankcase. The interior surface of the barrel is cryogenically cleaned before depositing the coating on the interior surface of the barrel and/or after depositing the coating on the interior surface of the barrel by using dry ice in a form of particles and inserting a dry ice projection device (10), where dimension of each particle is about 1 to 5 mm. The interior surface of the barrel is bored and processed for roughening the interior surface of the barrel. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for cryogenically cleaning an interior surface of a barrel of a crankcase (2) a vehicle engine.
