The device has a set of profiled elements, and a fixing unit for fixing the profiled elements to a roof (1). The profiled elements are formed by linear sections (4) having a base from which a support member extends. The base is provided with a planar surface to allow positioning of the linear sections on a sealing membrane (2). The fixing unit is formed by a membrane segment (5) having a width greater than that of the profiled elements, and a length less than that of the profiled elements, where the sealing membrane and the membrane segment are formed by a bituminous membrane. An independent claim is also included for a method for fixing photovoltaic panels on a roof.
