The assembly has a lid (2) for a water outlet case (11) of a combustion engine. A thermostatic valve (3) comprises a valve body (31) elongated according to a main axis (A) and carrying a thermostat (32) to control opening and closing of the valve. A clamp (4) ensures fixing of the valve on the lid. A deflector (5) is placed with a distal part of the valve relative to the lid and approximately parallel to the main axis such that a fluid partially intercepting the deflector is directed along the body toward the thermostat. An independent claim is also included for a combustion engine.
