The receiver has correlators (6-1-6-3) configured to realize correlations of received signal with replicas of an expected signal shifted temporally from each other. An acquisition unit (7) is configured to determine a correlation peak and to retain, among the correlators, control correlators (P, Epower1/2, L power1/2) centered on the correlation peak. Noise compensation units (8, 9) are configured to remove, from an outlet of one of the correlators, a linear combination of outputs of other correlators. An independent claim is also included for a method for reducing a noise disturbing reception of a broad band spectrum spreading signal.
