Fuel cell installation, has logic controller calculating real electric charge produced by fuel cell to compare with theoretical charge, and detecting gas leakage in installation when theoretical charge exceeds real charge by threshold
The installation has a logic controller (3) connected to a pressure sensor (2) and a fuel cell (4). The controller calculates output gas flow rate of pressurized fuel gas e.g. hydrogen, tank (1) from variation of pressure (P) measured by the sensor in the tank, and theoretical electric charge produced by the cell from the flow rate. The controller calculates real electric charge (C) produced by the cell for being compared with the theoretical electric charge. The controller detects a gas leakage in the installation when the theoretical charge exceeds the real charge by a given threshold. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting a fuel gas leakage in a fuel cell installation.
