PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform image adjustment without reducing throughput.;SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: first transfer means for transferring an image formed on a first image carrier to be overlapped on a second image carrier to obtain an image; second transfer means for transferring the image transferred and formed on the second image carrier to a transfer material; test pattern forming means for forming a test pattern transferred with the image on the second image carrier at an end in the main scanning direction outside an image formation area where the image is formed on the first image carrier; and control means for correcting image formation conditions of the image on the basis of a detection result of the test pattern image. When images are transferred to a plurality of transfer materials, test pattern forming means forms a test pattern image at an end in the main scanning direction outside an image formation area of at least one image, and the control means corrects image formation conditions of the image on the basis of a detection result of the test pattern image.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
