PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic discrimination image generating apparatus which allows for easy visual discrimination of whether depth data is properly generated in accordance with image data.;SOLUTION: The depth data is luminance data expressing the depth degree of the image data with a luminance level. A contour extraction part 5 generates contour extraction data for identifying between the contour portion and the non-contour portion of an object included in the depth data. A contour identification data superimposition part 6 outputs the image data as it is when the contour extraction data represents the non-contour portion, and superimposes the contour identification data on the image data when the contour extraction data represents the contour portion.
