PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method by which animal cells can be individually arranged one by one on the surface of a substrate without using microwells.;SOLUTION: There are provided the method for preparing the substrate for setting animal cells in array, and that for preparing the substrate on which animal cells are set in array. The methods include the following processes (1)-(3) and (1)-(4): (1) a process for preparing the substrate comprising an electrode substrate which has adsorption surfaces in array on its surface; (2) a process for allowing the electrode surface and the adsorption surfaces of the substrate to adsorb extracellular matrices; (3) a process for applying a weak electric potential to the electrode, peeling the extracellular matrices away from the electrode surface and obtaining the substrate whose adsorption surfaces adsorb the extracellular matrices; and (4) a process for growing animal cells on the surface of the substrate which is obtained in the process (3) and obtaining the substrate to the adsorption surfaces of which the animal cells adhere.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
