PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered body with a high degree of orientation which raises an anisotropy of powder particles as a raw material to be sintered and has the anisotropic particles aligned in a high characteristic direction.;SOLUTION: In manufacturing (Bi,Sb)2(Te,Se)3-based anisotropic thermoelectric conversion nanoparticles, at least one of a Bi compound and an Sb compound and at least one of a Te compound and an Se compound are reduced in a liquid phase to generate at least one of Bi metal nanoparticles and Sb metal nanoparticles and at least one of Te metal nanoparticles and Se metal nanoparticles, and resulting mixed powder of metal nanoparticles is subjected to an alloying heat treatment. At the time of reduction, the respective compounds are mixed so that one of alloy components Bi, Sb, Te, and Se is excessive to a composition of the thermoelectric conversion material, and then are reduced to generate a seed crystal having excessive component and the same crystal system to precipitate other alloy components as nanoparticles by using the seed crystal as nuclei. Powder consisting of the thermoelectric conversion nanoparticles is compressed and sintered to manufacture the anisotropic thermoelectric conversion sintered body.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
