PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing silica particles which have amino groups useful to bond biomolecules or the like to the silica particles on each particle surface and prevent deterioration in reactivity with the biomolecules or the like because the amino groups are adsorbed on the silica particle surface, and to provide such silica particles and composite particles using the same.;SOLUTION: The method for producing silica particles having amino groups on each particle surface includes incorporating a silane coupling agent represented by the following general formula 1 and an acid into a dispersion of silica particles dispersed in a water/alcohol mixed solvent and covalently bonding an alkyl group R1 having at least one amino group to the surfaces of the silica particles.
