PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical access portal which keeps the perfectibility of a seal and includes the flexibility of the seal to keep the perfectibility of the seal.;SOLUTION: The access portal includes a seal housing, a sleeve, and a seal, wherein the sleeve can be mounted to the seal housing and has a longitudinally directed inside pathway adapted to provide access to an underlying tissue, and is disposed within the seal housing. The seal includes a first layer having an orifice for accepting and passing a surgical appliance, a second continuous layer for providing a liquid enclosing seal into the seal housing when the surgical appliance is present, and a third layer having an orifice for passing the surgical appliance passed through the orifice. The first layer and the third layer have their respective higher densities than the second layer so that they may keep the second layer in a compressed state between them along the axial direction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
